Forest Floor re-stock

They have another opening. we have learned that all the entrances can be left open even in wasp season. I think it is because the guard bees are warm and attentive, and there is always some activity at each opening

During the summer, the girls will compact down the fresh spring Forest Floor. In September, when we begin to pull storable food frames from the hives and install the following boards, I will take the three brood frames with the queen and set them aside in the hive. Next, I will place a plastic cup over the exposed opening and pour in some fresh Forest Floor. I will smooth this out and then release the bees. After replacing the brood frame, I will repeat the process for the rest of the hive floor. Lastly, I will check the walkways for obstructions using my bottle-brush.
